Yesterday we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Dallas Hand Knitter's Guild. In 20 years we have had over 600 members. Over 50 showed up yesterday for a proper ladies' tea, a program on mitered knitting and a terrific Show and Tell. There are some very talented knitters out there doing amazing work.
I have only been in this guild two years, starting my third. It has been a great experience to meet other knitters but also to learn. Our guild's purpose is education and every meeting has wonderful speakers and topics.
There is always so much to learn in knitting. It is really helpful to have a group to do that with. So thanks and congratulations to DHKG as they now start their 21st year.

Finished Object Friday - New Design
I am very happy to have made my self-imposed deadline. A finished object and a fully written, proofed, tech edited pattern as well.
This is the Somerset Pullover and it is made in Madeline Tosh Pashmina - which is a merino, silk and cashmere blend. It feels wonderful on.
It is an A line shape with empire waist and a lattice twist stitch detail on the bodice. It is very easy, simple shaping and yarn that does the work of bringing out beautiful colors.
For more great finished objects, head over to Tami's and Wisdom begins in Wonder for lots of fiber inspiration. Have a great weekend!

I'm very excited about it and know I will wear it all the time in the fall and winter. I didn't want to take it off but it is 95 degrees outside so it was not quite weather appropriate.

Work in Progress Wednesday
It feels like summer is over here. We think we are past the days of 100 degree temperatures and it has actually been in the high 60's in the morning. I know that doesn't sound like a lot for some of you but in Texas in August that is wonderful. The traveling is done, school starts next week, State Fair submissions were due last week and my schedule is getting repeatable. Crazy hectic, but repeatable. Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays are berserk and Tuesdays and Fridays are calmer.
I just realized that I had not taken any pictures in awhile. Here is the red MadTosh sweater I have been working on. With luck the neck edging will be done and it will be a finished object by Friday. Not guaranteeing what time on Friday.
This has a twist stitch lattice on the bodice, so subtle patterning.
My mittens are done and the matching hat is about 1/3 done. Knit Picks Independent Designers will make this pattern available as soon as I can get it all finished. (I may run out of yarn so that is an issue, but crossing my fingers.)
Both of those patterns are my own designs. I've decided it is good to have another project going on that is my design - for those moments I want to knit but not have to think as hard. So I'm doing Debbie Bliss's Sophia Cable Vent Cardigan. So far so good. I did a lot of work on it in the car visiting colleges (how can it be that my son is 16 and driving and thinking about colleges?)
So that is what is in progress here. Head over to Tami's to see all the great projects.

Finished Object Friday
Happy Friday. We are heading back home from NYC today. I'll write more on that separately. My finished object is the Fritillary by Louisa Harding. Normally this is much longer and has a drawstring. I didn't have enough yarn to do that so I used this as a top down exercise and did top down set in sleeves. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
So you all know what to do to find lots of great fiber inspiration. Head to Tami's and Wisdom begins in Wonder. Have a great weekend.

Work in Progress Wednesday
Today, we're in NYC so I'm scheduling this in advance. Still working on the red sweater. There is more than this done by now but it still doesn't look like much. This yarn is Pashmina by Madeline Tosh, an independent dyer from here in Texas. This is great yarn - merino, cashmere, silk blend. Feels just great and I love the colors.
Off to have fun. Head to Tami's to see all the great projects.
